Test The Water

WHAT TO LOVE We already discussed our love of "shadow shots," but a water shadow shot? Yes, oh yes.

WHAT TO LEARN When you pick a photographer, research his/her work and beware of the "same-old, same-old." Look for fresh, flirty and fun (or whatever happens to float your bridal boat).

Charming Encounters

PHOTO BY Jessie Alexis Photography (www.jessiealexisphotography.com)

DEARLY BELOVED DETAIL Charming your guests!

You’re on handshake No. 692, hug No. 1,588, and smile No. 11,176. Worn out yet?

By the time you make it to your reception line, chances are you’ll be deliriously happy and deliriously tired. Even so, every attendee deserves to feel like your No. 1 guest — especially if you’ve never met them before. Here are three tips to charming encounters.

MAKE THE CONNECTION
Whether they’re friends of your parents or guests of the groom, find out the connection as your attendees come through the line. Not only will it be fun to play “who’s who,” you’ll engage your guests and validate the effort they made to come.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

It takes time and effort to attend wedding receptions, so be sure and thank every guest you talk to.

SINCERELY SPEAKING

In meeting and thanking your guests, be sincere! Even if you won’t remember names and faces, enjoy and relish every moment with strangers and loved ones alike.

SAGE ADVICE Stand by your man!

Through all the loveliness and craziness of your wedding day (because, rest assured, there will be both) lean on your new hubby for support. Find little moments to rest your head on his shoulder and just take everything in.

You can thank us later.

A Pose Proposal

DEARLY BELOVED DETAIL Posing!

Let’s talk candidly.

Nobody likes a poser. But sometimes those natural shots need a little, well, push. Kenneth Linge, an internationally renowned photographer located in Orem, shares his expert tips for brides to look (and pose) their best.

Bend your body forward from the top of your legs — it will lend way to a more flattering, friendly shot.

Lift your tongue to the roof of your mouth — it will complement any face shape for both smiling and serious shots, and it will get rid of the unwanted double chin.

Walk into a pose — the most natural shots often come after natural movements.

Don’t stand straight to the camera — placing your body at an angle will minimize your hips. (You’re welcome, ladies.)

Spread your feet apart — if you’re wanting to look shorter than your honey. If you’d like to look taller, keep them closer together.

Uniquely Perfect

BRIDE & GROOM Courtney and Hyrum
PHOTO BY Photography by McKenzie (www.photographybymckenzie.com)

WHAT TO LOVE This couple's unique style makes us just a little bit giddy. From his turquoise blazer to her non-traditional wedding dress to their choice of the Provo Temple (which doesn't always get the wedding love it deserves), Hyrum and Courtney's wedding pictures are positively refreshing to look at.

WHAT TO LEARN If you're intimidated or scared by the non-traditional — don't be. Your wedding will be beautiful and perfect simply because it's yours.

Let's Talk

PHOTO BY Jessie Alexis Photography (www.jessiealexisphotography.com)

SAGE ADVICE Talk "the talk" with your honey.

Before you and your husband-to-be say "I do," be sure to talk "logistics."

For example ...

* Who's going to handle the finances?
* Are we going to have separate or joint bank accounts?
* What kind of budget are we going to live by?
* Where do you see yourself living long term?
* Do you want to live near family? Or away from them?
* What kind of influence do your parents have on your life right now?
* Do you want children? When and how many?

And so on, and so forth ...

There are no right or wrong answers. Just have the discussions! You'll have a better marriage for it.
